je suis un auditeur de la radio par le net http://www.Pandora.com. Or celle-ci vient de couper les émissions vers la Suisse, car selon eux, il n’y a pas d’accord sur les droits entre USA et la Suisse. Pouvez-vous me confirmer (ou infimer) ce fait? le cas échéant, le régler? A titre d’info, je paie ma taxe radio!

Thanks for your kind explanation. I first thought it had something to do with the US project to raise the royalty for internet radios, which you didn’t want to pay for foreigners.
I sent the message below to http://www.suisa.com which is in charge of royalty for Switzerland, attaching your email.

I used to listen an internet radio on Pandora.com. They just cancelled broadcasting to non-US countries, arguing they were forced to do so because they lack licensing arrangements outside the USA (see copy of the e-mail I recieved below). Is this correct ? According swiss law, should american internet radios pay royalties in Switzerland for the music they broadcast to swiss listeners ?

Thanks for getting in touch. We really didn’t want to do this!

Just so you know, it’s really the record companies and their representatives in *other* countries (not those in the US) that are making us take this step.

The US record companies and subsidiaries already get their full royalty payments from us. (In fact, until now they have been getting extra payments since we’ve been paying them royalties for all of our listeners– since until now based on zip code all our listeners have appeared to be inside the US– that would otherwise be due to international labels.) Thus, US record labels and companies have no motivation whatsoever to stop us from continuing as we were.

If you’d like to help bring back Pandora to where you live, get in touch with the record companies and copyright organizations in your country and ask them (nicely) to get in touch with Pandora about a licensing arrangement for your country!
